Our homestay student
高校生のネネちゃんの関係で８月・９月の２ケ月間、サンタ家にオーストラリアから１８歳になる
ステファニー（通称ステフ）と言う女の子が来ています。
今回はそのステフの協力でステフの紹介をインタビュー形式でしたいと思います。
From the beginning of August to the end of September, we will be hosting

サンタ：日本にはいつ来たの？
When did you come to Japan?
ステフ： ３月、３１日に来ました
I came on the 31st of March
サンタ：日本に来た目的は？
Why did you come to Japan?
ステフ： 私は日本の文化と日本語を勉強しに来ました。
I wanted to learn more about Japanese culture and the Language.
サンタ：日本とオーストラリアの違いは何ですか？
What are the differences between Japan and Australia?
ステフ： たくさんの違いがあります。食べ物, ファッションと教育システムなどです。学校の勉強はとても大変だと思います。時々生徒達は土曜日でも、学校に行きます。
There are many differences including foods, fashion and the education system.
School is often very full on with people sometimes going 6 days a week
- including Saturdays!

８月に浴衣を着て花火大会に行きました。
横は日本人の友達です。

ネネもステフと同じに着物を着ました。大人ぽっく見えます。
サンタ：好きなｷｬﾗｸﾀｰは、なんですか？
What are your favourite Japanese characters?
ステフ： 私はたこ焼きとお好み焼きが好きです。
I like Takoyaki (Fried dumplings with octopus in the centre) and Okonomiyaki
(Like a pancake with cabbage and toppings of your own choice).
ステフ： それはとても面白い経験でした。でも、着方はちょっと難しいです。
It was a very interesting experience but the way of putting the kimono
on was a
little difficult.
ステフ：この家はめっちゃ楽しくて、サンタの家族は陽気な人達です。
This family is a very fun and lively family.
ステフ：キティちゃんやプーさんが好きです。
I like Hello Kitty and Winnie the Pooh
ステフ：私は外交官になりたい。それと外国に住みたいと思います。
I want to become a Diplomat and live overseas.

ステフと遊んだ記録
①おおさかキングのイベントに参加 (Osaka King)
②大阪城見学 (Sightseeing at Osaka Castle)
③港祭りの花火大会を見に行った (Fireworks at a local festival)
④漁港にて地引網体験 (Drag net fishing down at the Bay)
⑥プールランドRIOで泳ぐ (Fun at a Water Park)
⑤ゲームセンターで遊ぶ (Games Center)
⑧カラオケハウスに行く (Karaoke!!!)
⑦健康ランドに行く (Hot Springs)
ＴＶ局主催のイベントで各番組ごとに出店がある。
今年で２年目の開催でした。
大阪城の中では写真の様にカブトを借りて（有料）撮影出来ました。
ステフは秀吉のカブト・ネネは真田のカブトです。
毎年行われている花火大会に友達と浴衣を着て参加。
大きな花火はとても綺麗でした。
近くの漁港で地引網体験をしました。当日はあまり魚は取れませんでしたが良い経験になりました。
ローカルＴＶ局が取材に来ていて、ステフはインタビューを受けました。
９月１５日に放送になります。
セガのゲームセンターで遊びました。ネネが大当たりをしてコインを沢山とったから皆で長く遊べました。ステフも結構楽しそうに遊んでいました。
暑い夏の日に遊園地にあるプールで泳ぎました。
４つのスラーダーがあり、ステフも気に入ったみたいで楽しんで泳いでいました。
沢山の人と一緒に入るお風呂はどうかな？と思いましたが・・・
ステフは特に気にせずにサウナなど沢山の種類の温泉に入り楽しんだそうです。
ステフはカラオケが大好きです。英語の歌はもちろんですが、日本語でも歌えます。
２時間バッチリ歌いました。
My experience so far...
Well, I am more than halfway through my exchange program here in Japan
and I have so many memories that I am almost full to burst! In the past
5 months I have stayed with 3 host families and each have given me a different
perspective on Japanese life. I still have 2 more host families to go and
I truly wish that my coming families are as nice as those I have had so
far.
Recently, I went on a camp near Mt Fuji with a group of other exchange
students both from Australia and other countries. It was such a great chance
to meet up with old friends from the exchange program and meet new ones.
Unfortunatley, good things like these always have to come to an end, and,
after 4 short days, I was back on the Shinkansen home. Now, I am back at
school where I wont get another holiday untill Christmas time. Which is
a little stressful because, first of all, just the thought of 4 months
of school without holidays is daunting let alone the knowlege that I have
a hugeJapanese test coming up in the beginning of December. Other than
all this, learning Japanese while attending a Japanese High School is such
a great experience.
As mentioned before in the interview, there are some Japanese foods that I absolutley LOVE! In particular, Takoyaki... It is hard to explain this food but in my opinion, it is delicious. I am lucky enough to have a Takoyaki stand near my home which I often go to.
The one thing that I have looked forward to the most in my stay over here
is a White Christmas. For the past 17 years, every Christmas has been spent
in the swealtering heat of a hot Australian Christmas. Just once in my
life I would like to experience what it is like to have snow falling on
Christmas Day, just like in all those fairy tales that I read as a child.
This year I may finally get the chance to live out this dream....
下の英語はステフが日本に来てさまざまな経験をした事にたいする意見を本人が書いてます
特にオーストラリアの友人向けに書いてますので、訳していません。
サンタから見たステフ
とにかく日本語が上手です。ステフは今回１０ケ月間の留学生として来ています。
以前にも２週間のホームスティを日本で過ごした事があるそうです。
性格は明るく、留学生に来るぐらいだから、頭もそうとう良いと思います。
日本は今年、戦後60周年を迎えますが、ステフは「原爆」に興味があるらしく・・新聞などに「広島」「長崎」
の記事が載っていると、「この記事がほしい」と言ってきます。
また、ＴＶで戦争に関するドラマなどがあると、無心で見ています。
食べ物は比較的に好き嫌いはありませんのでママも安心です。しかし・・ネバネバした物（納豆・オクラ）
などは、苦手にしています。たこ焼きが好きで「美味しい」と言って食べていますよ。
サンタ家に来てからは、ネネと一緒にアポロの散歩を行ってくれて助かっています。
ネネもその時だけは、「日本語禁止」で英語でしゃべっているそうです。
将来は外交官になりたいと言う夢があり、今は日本語を一生懸命勉強しています。
大阪に在住しているせいか・・標準語ではなく、「大阪弁」になってます。
特に、使っている言葉は「めっちゃ」「わかれへん」です。
めっちゃ＝沢山 わかれへん＝わかりません と言う意味ですが・・上手に使うので違和感はありません
これを書いている時は９月のはじめですが・・残り約1ｹ月まだまだ、楽しい生活が出来そうです。
